To get the sharpest images possible, it is a good idea to stop down your lens to around f/8 to f/11. This range is where most lenses perform their best. Of course, you won’t get fast shutter speeds, but if you have a still subject and are using a tripod, stopping down the lens can make a big difference in the quality of your images.
